WHY VITAMINS
WHAT ARE VITAMINS?
Vitamins are vital nutrients essential for overall health
and proper immune system. They are required in minimal or limited amounts and
are considered to be micro nutrients. Water soluble vitamins are required more
in the body than fat soluble as they are lost with respective loss of water
from our body.
WHAT DO VITAMINS HELP IN?
Various vitamins have various effects on our body. They are
not synthesized enough in the body and have to be supplemented. Vitamin A helps
in proper vision, vitamin B helps to keep us energized and vitamin C helps to
boost our immune system.
Certain foods that will help you keep up healthy
levels of vitamins in the body:
FISH: fish
is one of the richest sources of vitamin A and D. If you are a vegetarian then
there are vitamin D fortified products available in the market like soy milk,
cereals and orange juice. Vitamin D is present in various products of our meal
and is important for proper absorption of calcium in our body thus maintaining
healthy bones. Getting sunlight also helps our bodies produce vitamin D.
SALMON,
TUNA, BEETROOT: these foods
are good sources of vitamin B 3(NIACIN). Vitamin B3 reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s
disease and is healthy for heart. It’s deficiency may also lead to pellagra.

considered to be rich in vitamin A, C and E which are the natural antioxidants.
Antioxidants prevent excessive oxidations in the body. Beta carotene is good
